What does it mean to be admitted to the Graduate School under provisional student status? ANSWER: Students deviating from the minimum requirements may be admitted with "provisional status" to the masters degree program. Upon completion of 12 or more semester credit hours of course work with a grade point average of at least 3.0, the Admissions Committee may recommend to the Dean of the Graduate School that the student be transferred to regular status. A student who is still on provisional status after completion of 12 semester credit hours will either be transferred to regular status or dropped from the program. It is the responsibility of the student to see that the appropriate request to the Dean of the Graduate School (through the VTMIT program office) is made at the proper time.
